QED Performance XTC Speaker Cable

QED Performance XTC speaker cable is based on the ‘X-Tube’ geometry of QED’s higher end Silver Anniversary XT, but with pure copper conductors.

It’s the lowest-priced cable so far to make use of the ‘X-Tube’ design, which features 3 x 99.999% Oxygen-Free Copper braids wound round a hollow central core, then wrapped in clear Mylar.

QED XTC cable is covered in a white, flexible polyethylene outer jacket and a spacer is included between the positive and negative conductors. This offers a “fine adjustment of capacitance and inductance to deliver improvements to both imaging and sound-staging, together with a full and natural bass response.”

Optional 4mm BANANA PLUGS

GOLD 4mm BANANA PLUGS Twin Screw Audio Connectors

Designed to fit standard 4mm amplifier and speaker sockets found on most high-end audio separates, these premium banana plugs are constructed from a gold plated metal conductor with lantern pin section. Termination of speaker cable is facilitated using twin screw fixing for easy assembly. The twin screw cable termination ensures a consistently high level of performance and connectivity.

QED XTC speaker cable is also available fully terminated with 4mm banana plugs as shown. Please see QED Performance XTC Speaker Cable 4mm Banana Plugs Terminated.

Aircore™ Technology Explained

One of the big problems as cable conductor size increases, is how to keep the inductance low. This is vital to reduce cable losses and prevent inaccuracies in the signal transfer process, i.e. distortion.
The normal way to do this is to use a number of individually insulated conductors within the cable construction. This method is utilised to great effect in the design of QED’s Genesis Silver Spiral loudspeaker cables.

X-Tube Diagram

To take advantage of this design ethos, but in a more conventional format, X-TUBE forms the conductor in the shape of a tube with an inner aircore. This has the same effect as using multiple insulated conductors and ensures that high frequencies are transmitted cleanly, with the added benefit of ease of termination. The unique tubular conductor geometry also provides lower flux density within the conductors, which gives improved transparency to the sound.

The overall result is more high frequency detail, less distortion and greater performance.
