QED Reference XT40 Speaker Cable
QED Reference XT40 Speaker Cable is a new pure copper cable design from QED, celebrating 40 years’ of award winning cables. QED XT40 utilises X-Tube (Aircore™) Technology in a new format to bring high end cable performance.
Acclaimed by What HI-FI? Magazine this ‘5 Star’ award winning pure copper loudspeaker cable boasts QED’s advanced X-Tube (Aircore™) technology and a massive 4mm2 cross sectional area. This results in a cable that delivers clear sonic advantages over conventional cable designs by maintaining a flat frequency response within the audio band.
“Everything about the XT40 is clear and engaging….superb performance at the price”
HiFi Choice Extras 2015, Feb 2015
“An exceptional performer and a natural upgrade from a beginner’s cable.”
What Hi-Fi? Awards 2014 – Best Speaker Cable, Oct 2014
AIRLOC Termination – Optional
AIRLOC Forte plugs with improved pin section are fitted to maximise contact area throughout the wide tolerance range found in 4mm amplifier and speaker sockets. This means that the connection remains uniformly tight and with its premium gold-plating, provides optimum sonic performance through time.
QED Reference XT40 Speaker Cable can be fitted with Airloc Forte banana plugs and/or spade terminals. Please see QED Reference XT40 Speaker Cable Airloc Forte Terminated for prices and to order.
Aircore™ Technology Explained
One of the big problems as cable conductor size increases, is how to keep the inductance low. This is vital to reduce cable losses and prevent inaccuracies in the signal transfer process, i.e. distortion. The normal way to do this is to use a number of individually insulated conductors within the cable construction. This method is utilised to great effect in the design of QED’s Genesis Silver Spiral loudspeaker cables.
To take advantage of this design ethos, but in a more conventional format, X-TUBE forms the conductor in the shape of a tube with an inner aircore. This has the same effect as using multiple insulated conductors and ensures that high frequencies are transmitted cleanly, with the added benefit of ease of termination. The unique tubular conductor geometry also provides lower flux density within the conductors, which gives improved transparency to the sound.
The overall result is more high frequency detail, less distortion and greater performance.
