The new Supremus Zr speaker cable now boasts high-quality zirconia plugs and barrels. This advanced ceramic material can be found in watches and fountain pens and is used in the automotive and aerospace industries. Zirconia is prized for its durability and high resistance to wear, temperature and eddy currents. Its lustrous surface also adds a luxury finish to the cable.

Zirconia Airloc™ Design

NEW Zirconia barrels and boots

Zirconia’s high mechanical strength, scratch resistance, and glossy finish make it ideal for the Supremus Zr cable’s barrels and boots. Its electrically inert properties prevent eddy currents, reducing plug-induced distortion while enhancing both the visual and tactile appeal of the plugs.

Airloc™ Cold Weld System

The high-pressure termination process creates a permanent, air-free bond between conductors and the plug, preventing oxidation and ensuring lasting conductivity.

Rhodium-plated Locking Design

Rhodium improves the Supremus Zr connectors by reducing resistance and increasing contact area. Its durability and resistance to oxidation ensure a strong, maintenance-free connection, enhanced by a locking design that securely clamps the rhodium-plated pins.

Aircore™ Technology

QED’s Aircore technology addresses skin and proximity effects in loudspeaker cables by using hollow tubular conductors to reduce skin effect, along with polyester insulation and a special spiral construction to minimize proximity effect. This design improves current distribution and enhances the cable’s performance across the audio spectrum.

6.2 mm² Ultra-low Resistance Conductors

Cryogenic treatment improves the copper core’s microstructure, removing crystalline dislocations and enhancing conductivity, leading to a more natural and accurate sound, similar to the improved tone in brass instruments.
