Description
QED XT3 Power Cable
QED XT3 power cable is the latest addition to a new generation of audiophile power cables designed to complement its award-winning speaker cables and audio interconnects.
With more than 47 years of engineering excellence and a legacy that includes some of the very first specialist speaker cables, QED brings unmatched expertise in audio-visual connectivity. This experience is underpinned by a relentless commitment to research and development, supported by rigorous analytical listening tests.
The XT3 power cable incorporates several proprietary technologies, developed through objective scientific research and refined by subjective evaluation, to deliver audible improvements in performance.
Central to its design is QED’s X-Tube™ technology, which reduces distortion caused by impedance modulation within the cable. This allows cleaner, more consistent current delivery to audio equipment, helping prevent unwanted interference from reaching the music signal.
Without a high-quality power cable supplying clean, noise-free current, amplifiers can sound harsh and brittle, with reduced responsiveness to musical transients, limited dynamics, and weaker bass performance.
Fully type-tested for quality and safety, the XT3 power cable offers a reliable upgrade that delivers clear, audible benefits to both source components and amplification systems.
X-Tube technology
The QED XT3 power cable uses a specially adapted version of X-Tube™ Technology, derived from QED speaker cables and precisely tuned for power delivery. The live and neutral conductors are formed from small, braided individual cores that are unaffected by eddy currents from adjacent strands, reducing proximity effects.
Each strand is effectively isolated, and a carefully calculated twist rate ensures that no two conductors run alongside each other for more than a few millimetres. This promotes smooth, even current flow across all frequencies. The conductor bundles are individually insulated with K130 PVC to control capacitance and meet international safety standards, while a hollow LDPE core manages inductance.
Together, these design elements preserve the correct phase relationship between voltage and current, reducing distortion compared with conventional power cables.
Complete practicality
XT3 is designed to be as thin, flexible, and practical as possible. X-Tube™ technology is applied only to the live and neutral conductors, while the earth core—used only under fault conditions—retains a conventional design.
By using X-Tube geometry, the cable’s total cross-section is kept to a compact 1.5 mm², making XT3 exceptionally slim and flexible despite its audiophile performance.
